Does any of this sound like you?
Relationship struggles often sound like this.

- Every time we talk, it turns into the same fight.
- I keep trying to explain, but I never feel heard.
- I feel lonely, even when we're in the same room.

Before you book
You don't need to be in crisis to start.
A lot of people wait until things feel unbearable. You don't have to.
It doesn't have to be "bad enough"
If something is weighing on you, that's reason enough to talk about it. Many people come to counselling to sort through things before they get bigger.
Talking to someone is normal
Seeing a counsellor is a normal way for anyone to look after their mental health, the same way you'd see a GP about your body. Sessions are online, so it stays private and you never sit in a waiting room.
You don't need to know what to say
"I'm not really sure why I'm here" is a perfectly good way to start. I'll guide the conversation, especially in your first session.
What counselling with me is like
What works for one person doesn't work for everyone.
Sessions are relaxed and conversational. You set the pace and decide what we talk about. I'll get to know you first, then draw on the approaches below in whatever way suits you.
- Person-centredYou are the expert on your own life.
- Solution-focusedBuilding on what already works.
- ACTMaking room for hard feelings while moving toward what matters.
- CBTNoticing unhelpful thought patterns and finding new ones.

Meet your counsellor
Hi, I'm Shiyanka.
I became a counsellor because I believe no one should have to face difficult times alone.
Many people manage on their own for a long time before they reach out for support, and if that sounds familiar, you're welcome here.
In our sessions, you can speak openly without fear of judgement. I'll listen carefully and help you make sense of what you're experiencing. Together we'll develop practical strategies you can use in daily life, so that our work moves you forward rather than going over the same ground.

FAQs
Questions you might have.
If your question isn't here, you're welcome to ask in your first session.
How do I know if counselling is right for me?
If something has been affecting your sleep, your mood or your relationships, it's worth talking about. And if, after our first session, we both feel another kind of support would suit you better, I'll help you find it.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly online. You don't need a GP referral or a mental health plan.
How do online sessions work?
After you book, you'll receive a secure video link. All you need is a phone, tablet or computer with a camera, and a private, comfortable space where you won't be interrupted.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. What you share is kept confidential, within the limits set by law and the ACA Code of Ethics, such as when someone's safety is at risk. I'll explain this clearly in our first session. You can also read the confidentiality agreement.
Can I come on my own if my relationship is what's troubling me?
Yes. Many people work through relationship struggles in one-on-one sessions. It's a space that's just for you, to understand what's going on, what you need, and how you want to move forward.
Do I have to commit to a set number of sessions?
No. You can book one session and decide from there. Some people come for a few sessions, others for longer. It's up to you.
What if I need to cancel?
Please give at least 48 hours' notice. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice incur a fee of 50% of the session cost, and missed appointments are charged the full fee. Read the full cancellation policy.
What if I need help urgently?
Counselling is not a crisis service. If you or someone else is in danger, call 000. For 24/7 support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
